 The kids are out of school, the weather is nice and warm, and you are no doubt just itching to get out and enjoy it. Just southeast of Dallas, Corsicana is a small but growing community with an eclectic mix of arts, history, live music, and recreation that makes for the perfect week-end getaway. Start your mornings off with a fine coffee and pastries at the world-famous Colin Street Bakery, then head off to the Arts District where you will find some of the finest pieces of Western Art in Texas. If you are more the sporty type, visit one of the many area lakes, golf courses, and even a the Texas Premier Motocross track located on a nearby 1150 acre ranch. Fort Worth, Texas

For a quick daytrip or get away, Fort Worth has plenty to offer in terms of cuisine, Arts, and nightlife. Athens, Texas

If you are more of a naturalist, Athens, Texas is a beautiful little town with a variety of natural and recreational opportunities. Go hiking at the East Texas Arboretum, or take the kids fishing at the famed Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center. They will love the alligators on display in the freshwater aquarium. If you enjoy antiques, head down to the town square for several warehouses worth of hidden gems, all within walking distance.
